Pioneiro do ensino do Muay Thai no Brasil e discípulo direto de Nélio Naja, Rubens Melantonio Filho formou mestres como Edinei Pedroso e Rafael Thainaja, a quem fez uma visita nesta sexta-feira (30). Os dois mestres treinaram juntos, soltaram nos aparadores uma poderosa e vasta coleção de chutes frontais, laterais e rodados, e mostraram aos alunos táticas de guarda, esquiva e defesa.Rubens afirmou que “é sempre bom reencontrar o Thainaja, relembrarmos os velhos tempos, dar umas risadas juntos e treinar um pouco”. Disse que quando o assunto é Muay Thai, “eu e Rafael falamos a mesma língua”, considerando muito positivo o fato dos alunos da Thainaja entenderem essa linguagem: “é bom perceber que aquilo que treinamos e ensinamos por tanto tempo, desde a época da Academia Muay Thai, chega às novas gerações”, declarou mestre Melantonio.
